山形では初めての展示会。
赤いお花のモザイクガラスはおよそ2000年前の古代ローマ期のもの。コインは1500年前のササン朝ペルシャのドラクマ銀貨です。
インダスやメソポタミア、ローマ期やペルシャなど1000年以上前に作られたガラスや石のビーズたち、およそ1000点以上の様々なビーズをお持ちします。
またローマングラスやペルシャ陶器、ガンダーラ美術などオリエントの古美術たちも、お楽しみに!!

I will be at the gallery throughout the exhibition and will be happy to discuss designs and take orders.
This is my first exhibition in Yamagata. The red floral mosaic glass dates to the Roman period, around 2,000 years ago. The coin is a silver drachm from Sasanian Persia, around 1,500 years old. I will bring over 1,000 glass and stone beads made more than 1,000 years ago, from the Indus Valley, Mesopotamia, ancient Rome, Persia and other regions.
Roman glass, Persian ceramics, Gandharan art and other Near Eastern antiquities will also be on display.
Edo Glass Beads and European Trade Beads

A comparison of eighteenth-century Japanese Edo glass beads with Bohemian, Venetian and Dutch beads traded with Africa reveals the rich creativity and expressive qualities of Japanese craftsmanship, alongside the splendour of European beads.
Please enjoy the distinctive jewellery made with Edo glass beads from the Kano Collection and beads from the WAKE UP Collection.
The Kano Collection
Hiromasa Kano, born in Gifu Prefecture in 1945, completed a master’s degree at the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Sociology. After working at the Institute of Developing Economies, he became a professor at Tsuda University, where he is now professor emeritus.
WAKE UP was a shop on Shibuya Koen-dori from 1986 to 2006, presenting traditional handmade objects from around the world. Valuing the beauty of design created by human hands, it offers fresh expressions of a collection assembled over many years in Japan and abroad.
