赤褐色の半透明ガラスに、黄色、緑色、橙色などの鮮やかなモザイク模様が重なる、独特な造形のガラスビーズ。

複雑に入り組んだ多彩な文様と、深みのある赤褐色のガラスとの対比が美しい。

特に興味深いのは、穿孔付近に取り付けられた金属製の金具と、不規則に残されたガラスの形状である。

古いモザイクガラスのビーズが破損し、後世に補修あるいは再利用された可能性も考えられる。

製作年代や地域、金具が取り付けられた時期については、今後の研究を要する。

An unusual glass bead combining translucent reddish-brown glass with vivid mosaic patterns in yellow, green, orange and other colours.

Its intricate decoration contrasts beautifully with the deep reddish-brown glass.

Particularly intriguing are the metal fittings near the perforation and the bead’s irregular surviving form.

The object may have been repaired or repurposed in antiquity or at a later date.

Its precise date, place of manufacture and the age of the metal fittings remain uncertain.
