Ancient Roman Iridescent Elongated Glass Bead with Wavy Patte
Period: Ancient Roman (Attributed)
Date: 1st–4th Century
Region: West Asia / Mediterranean Coastal Area
Material: Glass
Decoration: Wavy/Spiral lines
Dimensions: 9mm (L) x 9mm (W) x 35mm (H)
Weight: 2.9g
An elongated bead featuring multiple undulating, wave-like lines wrapping around a deep blue glass body.
The surface displays beautiful iridescence shifting from blue-violet to silvery-white, creating a complex shimmer that changes with the angle of the light.
It possesses a distinctive shape that gently swells in the center and tapers toward both ends. Fine pitting and traces of weathering on the surface lend a rich, textured character to the deep blue glass.
While a connection to decorative glass from the Ancient Roman period is suggested, the precise date and region of manufacture, as well as the technique used to create the wavy pattern, require further study.
